RISHI KUMAR UNDERTAKES ANALYTICAL STUDY

Under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Sunil—Head of the Hindi Department and Dean of the Faculty of Languages at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar—student Rishi Kumar has prepared a minor research dissertation as part of his M.A. (Hindi) fourth-semester curriculum. The dissertation presents an analytical study of the short story collection ‘Jaagte Raho,’ authored by Ludhiana-based writer Manoj Dhiman.
Expressing gratitude to his research supervisor, Prof. (Dr.) Sunil, Rishi Kumar stated that the research work was successfully completed thanks to his valuable suggestions, constant encouragement, and scholarly guidance. He also thanked all the faculty members and staff of the Hindi Department for their support.
In the conclusion of the dissertation, Rishi Kumar writes, “Manoj Dhiman is not merely a skilled writer; his pen possesses the ability to highlight sensitivity, revolutionary ideas, struggles, and societal facets that effectively portray the complexities of human relationships and social awareness.”
Rishi Kumar notes that Dhiman’s short stories combine entertainment with underlying social messages. His works provide a new direction and foster awareness within society. The collection ‘Jaagte Raho’ strengthens social consciousness and human values. The author’s language is simple, natural, and poignant, making even serious subjects easily accessible to readers.
Dhiman expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Kumar, Guru Nanak Dev University, and student Rishi Kumar for preparing this minor research dissertation on his book ‘Jaagte Raho.’ He remarked that this research serves as a form of recognition and encouragement for his literary work.
It may be mentioned here that Manoj Dhiman has authored books namely ‘Late Night Party’ (short story collection, 2007)—which was also published in English translation—‘Barish Ki Boondein’ (poetry collection, 2009), ‘Shunya Ki Ore’ (novel, 2012), ‘Yeh Makaan Bikau Hai’ (short story collection, 2021), ‘Khol Kar Dekho’ (short story collection, 2022), ‘Jaagte Raho’ (short story collection, 2024), ‘Birju Nai Ki Dukaan’ (novel, 2024), and ‘Dharti Par Laute Aabhasi Duniya Ke Avatar’ (novel, 2025).
