Referring to the rise in thefts in villages and Abohar town, MLA Sandeep Jakhar said that the fear of Abohar police among the miscreants has almost ended.

Jakhar said that miscreants were carrying out thefts almost each day and had targeted more than two or three houses during the same night in separate villages. He said that on the one hand, the Punjab government has launched a war against drugs, but the drug trade in Abohar did get any jerk. The incidents of motorcycle theft and snatching had brought bad reputation to the police administration. And now for a few days, thieves were moving in groups and targeting villagers.

He said that in the past, the thieves had stolen gold worth lakhs of rupees while targeting three houses in Kallar Khera village. Similarly, the case of stealing goats from village Dalmir Khera has come to light. Due to indifferent police action and in view of the strong spirits of the thieves, there is a sense of fear among the citizens and villagers. Thefts were reported recently in urban areas from drug hotspot Indira Nagari and twice in Dharam Nagari but the police were clueless. Two thefts were committed in houses on Abohar-Malout Road.

The MLA demanded that the administration should rise out of deep slumber and control crime.
