VAN MAHOTSAV 2025:GOVERNOR LEADS TREE PLANTATION DRIVE AT GOVT COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

As part of the celebrations of Van Mahotsav 2025 by UT Chandigarh, a special drive was organized at the Government College of Education here today. Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh accompanied by Sh. Mandeep Brar, IAS, Secretary Home, UT Chandigarh; Sh. Sorabh Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator Forest; Sh. Anoop Soni, IFS, Conservator of Forest; Sh. Navneet Srivastav, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forest and Sh. Raj Kumar Singh, Director General of Police, UT Chandigarh and Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director Higher Education, UT Chandigarh and Sh. Nemi Chand, State Liaison Officer, UT Chandigarh planted saplings in the college premises. Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda welcomed the guests. The drive was organized by NSS and Eco Club of the college.

Hon’ble administrator Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria emphasized the importance of tree plantation and conservation, highlighting its role in striking the much needed ecological balance and making a greener future. He also motivated and appreciated the efforts of the NSS units, Eco Club and college administration for organizing the event. 120 saplings were planted in the college campus which already houses hundreds of flourishing trees.

Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, led the initiative by planting trees at 23 sites out of total 253 sites across the city wherein tree plantation was held. The celebration at such a wide scale aimed to promote environmental awareness, conservation, and sustainability among the citizens. The plantation drive was a huge success, with students, faculty members, and dignitaries actively participating in the initiative.

The celebration of Van Mahotsav 2025 reflects the commitment of UT administration towards environmental protection and conservation. The initiative is expected to inspire citizens to participate actively in tree plantation and conservation efforts, contributing to make this city beautiful, cleaner and greener.
