On 20.04.2025, a group of five assailants led by Gagandeep Singh @ Gagan had brutally attacked Dalwinder Singh @ Rinku, owner of Pardhan Dhaba, Village Mamoli, PS Lalru, SAS Nagar, causing him grievous head injuries.

In this regard, FIR No. 48 dated 21.04.2025 under Sections 109, 115(2), 117(2), 117(4), 118(1), 118(2), 126(2), 191(3), and 190 of BNS was registered at PS Lalru. All the accused were successfully identified during investigation based on evidence/clues gathered from the crime scene and CCTV footage.

Three of the accused were arrested shortly after the incident, while another accused , Golu, was arrested at a later stage.

Kingpin of the attack Gagandeep Singh @ Gagan, a resident of Surat Manauli in SAS Nagar had been absconding since the incident.

Acting on Human/Tech inputs a team of SD Dera Bassi of dist Sas Nagar Police led by SHO Lalru and Incharge PP Lehli tracked him down at Pilkhani village in Haryana and successfully arrested him on 30th June.

He was remanded to five days' police custody by the local court.

On Friday early morning Gagan was taken nearby Jharmal river bank in Lalru area for the recovery of weapon used in the crime. In a failed attempt to flee from police custody he sustained fracture in his right leg. He was shifted to govt hospital Dera Bassi for treatment.

Further investigation is in process.
