Punjab Police reported to have have arrested three natives of Bikaner district from Sriganganagar in Rajasthan.
Fazilka SSP Gurmeet Singh, DSP (D) Balkar Singh Sandhu and DSP (Rural) Tejinderpal Singh said that Inderpal Bishnoi, Sandeep Khichad and Pawan Khichad residents of village Kachur Aguni of Jasrasar police station area in Bikaner district have been arrested. He said that the shooters involved in the Sanjay Verma murder case were given shelter by these three youths. These people had also got Rs 1.40 lakh transferred money from abroad.
(SUBHEAD)The SP said that one of these youths runs a PG hostel and the other two youths do petty work. It is noteworthy that Sanjay Verma was shot dead by three youths early in the morning on July 7. The killers came on a motorcycle and later fled in a car leaving the motorcycle in Abohar itself.
The police arrested two youths Jaspreet Singh and Ramratan the very next day on the charge of helping these three criminals to escape. DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla had especially visited Abohar to monitor investigation.
According to Punjab Police, shortly after the arrest, when Jaspreet and Ramratan were taken to the place mentioned by them near Abohar for recovery of the weapons used in the crime, suddenly some of their suspected accomplices attacked the police party to free them. In retaliatory action, Jaspreet and Ramratan were killed while escaping from the police custody. Police had constable Maninder Singh was injured in the incident.
Till now, the three youths who escaped after shooting Sanjay Verma have not been caught. One of these youths Shakti Kumar of Azeemgarh here.
