In a remarkable success, alert Border Security Force (BSF) troops on duty on Thursday recovered huge consignment of heroin on Ferozepur border.
BSF spokesperson, said a thorough search of suspected area by the BSF troops in the wee hours today
resulted in the recovery of 15 packets of suspected heroin (Gross weight- 8.600 Kgs). The value of heroin evaluated more than 40 crores in international market.
(SUBHEAD)This recovery was made from an agricultural field near border village- Bhanewala of district Ferozepur, situatted on Indo Pak Border. Each narcotics packet was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with an iron hook and illuminating device attached.
This notably successful operation reflects the BSF’s relentless pursuit in securing the nation’s borders and steadfast dedication of its vigilant troops to prevent any cross-border smuggling of narcotics by notorious drug syndicate of Pakistan.
Meanwhile SSP Bhupinder Singh said that the operation was launched this morning based on specific intelligence inputs. During the extensive search, 15 packets of heroin were found concealed near the border fencing.
A case under Sections 21 and 23 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Sadar Police Station (FIR No. 189 dated 17.07.2025). The SSP added that investigations are underway to ascertain whether the consignment was dropped via drone or if there was any involvement of local residents.
Referring to a related case, the SSP said that three days ago, police apprehended a 21-year-old youth, Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Jallo Ke village in Mamdot block. He was found in possession of 1.407 kg heroin, along with a drone and two remote controls. “The remotes had been procured by the accused in an attempt to operate the drone from the Indian side using online tutorials. However, he failed to master the device,” the SSP informed.
Emphasizing the continued crackdown under the ongoing “Yudh Nasha Virodh” campaign, the SSP said the police have arrested 870 accused in 681 separate cases over the past five months. The cumulative seizure includes 102.735 kg heroin, 6.911 kg opium, 602.628 kg poppy husk, 25 grams of intoxicating powder, 23,645 tablets, 400 grams of ICE, and ₹82.70 lakh in drug money. “We are committed to dismantling the entire drug network with unwavering resolve,” the SSP asserted.
