Among the many who supported the Indian Army during Operation Sindoor, a 10-year-old boy from village Taran Wali emerged as an unlikely hero. Shvan Singh, a class IV student of the local government school, had voluntarily served chilled water, milk, tea, and lassi to the jawans stationed in his village—earning admiration from both locals and soldiers alike.

In recognition of his selfless spirit, the Golden Arrow Division has adopted Sarvan, pledging to sponsor his education to ensure his dreams aren’t limited by financial hardship.

At a ceremony held to honour him, Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar personally felicitated Sarvan, calling the gesture a symbol of the Army’s enduring bond with the people of Punjab.

Shvan Singh’s father, Sona Singh, said the Army had camped on their fields during the operation. “From day one, Sarvan insisted on serving them. We’re proud of his intention,” he said.

“I love being around Army men and want to serve the nation in uniform,” said a proud Sarvan, recalling how the soldiers even treated him to ice cream during the ceremony.
