NATIONAL POET MAITHILI SHARAN GUPT 'S BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED ON INDO-PAK BORDER

The birth anniversary of Maithili Sharan Gupt, veteran freedom fighter who was honoured with the Rashtra Kavi award by the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, was celebrated at the Sadki joint post of Indo-Pak border.

Border Area Vikas Front chief Liladhar Sharma said that Sadhvis Satyanidhi, Satya Shraddha, Satyavrata, Sayasamidha who came from different places of the country showered flowers on BSF officers and jawans and presented devotional songs.

After the Retreat Ceremony, famous musicians and Bhajan singers of Fazilka region, Krishan Shant, Raghunandan Sharma recited patriotic poems and songs written by Maithili Sharan Gupt. They were accompanied by Pankaj Sharma and Mamta Sharma. The birth anniversary of Hindi film Baiju Bawra's singer and lyricist Shakeel Badayuni was celebrated.

Those present on the occasion showered flowers on Assistant Commander JK Singh, his companion BK Shukla and other soldiers and pledged to maintain friendship with BSF. People standing on the other side of the border anxiously watched the celebrations.
