A Sarhadi Tiranga Yatra was organised on Thursday from Fazilka to the Sadqi Border, in which residents participated with immense patriotism, national fervour, and enthusiasm.

The procession was flagged off by Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna and Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu. Starting from the DC office, the yatra—adorned with a sea of waving tricolours—proceeded on foot to Ghanta Ghar Chowk before continuing towards the Sadqi JCP.

(SUBHEAD)Through this march, the 200-foot-high National Flag to be installed at Sadqi Check Post was ceremoniously carried and handed over to BSF officials. Along the route, people welcomed the yatra by showering flowers. Upon reaching Sadqi, a BSF contingent offered a guard of honour to the flag, which was then received with full ceremonial respect and handed over after traditional prayers.

MLA Sawna said that the Punjab Government has installed the 200-foot-high National Flag at Sadqi Border JCP. Earlier, the Pakistani flag at this location stood taller than the Indian one, but now, India’s tricolour would stand prouder and taller, symbolising the nation’s honour.

On the occasion, saplings were also planted.

Those present included “Shaheedon Ki Samadh Committee” President Sandeep Gilhotra, senior BSF officer Ajay Kumar and Khushboo Sawansukha
