TEEJ FESTIVAL RECORDS PRESENCE OF THOUSANDS

The Jakhar Trust organized 5th 'Mela Teeyan Da' at Nehru Park here. The event was scheduled last month but Had to be postponed as the park was waterlogged due to heavy rain.

Star attractions were 'Gali Chatkare Wali', Sawan swings, Kikli, Giddha, Bhangra, delicious dishes stalls, handicraft market and “Trinjana” selfie point that showcased Punjab-Haryana-Rajasthan culture. Competitions were also organised for different age groups. Aman Band, Gurwinder Sandhu, Harry Dhaliwal, Sunita Giddha Group from Jalandhar gave a wonderful performance.

Abohar MLA Sandeep Jakhar said that Teej festival reflects our values and our civilization and works to unite families. He sought women’s active support in battle against the drug menace and said that mothers and sisters can control misguided youths at home, this will help in eliminating the menace. He gave prizes to one hundred children and women on the occasion for winning various competitions.
