Braving rain, Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur and MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna today visited flood-affected villages Teja Ruhela and Chak Ruhela and distributed relief material, including cattle feed, to support the affected families.

Dr. Baljit Kaur informed that around 1.7 lakh cusecs of water have been released from Harike Headworks, which is expected to reach the Fazilka district through Sutlej Creek by tomorrow, further raising the water level. She appealed to residents to move women, children, and elderly people to safer places immediately.

The Minister said that special relief camps have been set up and medical care to pregnant women, lactating women and children is being provided.

Earlier, Dr. Baljit Kaur chaired a review meeting with district officers at Fazilka to assess the ongoing relief measures and directed officials to work round-the-clock with utmost readiness. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Mandeep Kaur and SDM Veerpal Kaur were also present.
