(MOREPIC1) The flood situation in Fazilka district continues to remain critical as water levels have been rising steadily since August 27, severely impacting hundreds of villagers. Amid these challenging conditions, the Indian Army units deployed in Fazilka have taken charge of large-scale relief and rescue operations. So far, more than 2,200 affected residents have been safely evacuated.

Army medical teams are actively treating the injured while food, drinking water, and essential medicines are being supplied to the marooned population. The worst-affected villages include Ram Singh Bhaini, Teja Rohela, Dona Nanka, Gatti No. 1, Mahatma Nagar, Gulaba Bhaini, Chak Rohela, Retewali Bhaini, and Jhangar Bhaini, along with several smaller habitations.

The Army’s timely presence has instilled a sense of hope and confidence among the villagers, who have expressed deep gratitude towards the soldiers. According to officials, the top priority at present is saving lives and ensuring that stranded people receive immediate relief. The Indian Army, in coordination with the local administration and NDRF, is jointly engaged in evacuation, medical assistance, and stabilizing conditions in the affected areas.

Senior Army officers stationed in Fazilka have assured that the Army remains fully committed to the welfare of citizens. Despite the rising water levels and adverse conditions, the soldiers continue to remain steadfast on the ground, ensuring the safety and security of the people.
