CBI COURT SENTENCES SSB ASSISTANT COMMANDANT AND SI TO ONE YEAR RI FOR MISAPPROPRIATION OF SEIZED GOODS WORTH RS. 24 LAKH

NThe CBI Court, Patna, on Wednesday sentenced accused Vijay Kumar Jha, Asstt. Commandant and Apurva Sarkar, SI both of 19th BN, SSB, Bathnaha, Forbesganj to One Year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with a fine of Rs. 50,000/- each for Misappropriation of Seized Goods worth of Rs. 24 Lakh. 

CBI registered the instant case on the basis of source information alleging that Anand Kumar, the then Dy. Commandant, Vijay Kumar Jha, then Asstt. Commandant and Apurva Sarkar, the SI all 19th BN, SSB, Bathnaha, Forbesganj and other unknown at Bathnaha entered into a criminal conspiracy among themselves during the year 2009 and fraudulently and dishonestly misappropriated one truck betel nuts seized by them costing around Rs. 24 Lakh by abusing their official position as public servants.

After investigation, CBI filed Charge-sheet on 13.07.2012 against (i) Anand Kumar, the then Dy. Commandant, (Expired during trial) (ii) Vijay Kumar Jha, Asstt. Commandant and (iii) Apurva Sarkar, Sub-Inspector.

The Ld. Court found merit in the charges against accused persons and accordingly, convicted/ sentenced them.
