The three-day Literature Fair at Shri Roshan Lal Jain Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Lekhak Parishad president Raj Sadosh and Beopar Mandal chief Suresh Satija.
School committee president Fakir Chand Goyal welcomed the guests. Kulbhushan Hiteshi introduced the chief guests.
(SUBHEAD)Speaking about the importance of Indian literature, Raj Sadosh said that today foreigners are researching this vast literature. Regarding the four Vedas, 11 Upanishads, and 18 Puranas, he said that these are the works of our Indian saints, but even today many people have not even read or seen this literature. Foreigners arrange copies of Vedas and Puranas through people visiting India to read them. The younger generation needs to concentrate more on reading books than getting glued to mobile phones and television, because knowledge gained from books is remembered for a lifetime.
Suresh Satija said that books are more valuable than diamonds because diamonds provide external light, while books illuminate a person's inner self. “There was a time when books were scarce and readers were more numerous, things are reversed now.”
School Principal Jolly Monga thanked everyone. Sairam Goyal, Jait Kanwar, Advocate Shyam Sundar, Bhojraj Pyari Devi School Principal Jyoti, Deepak, Kamal Kant Khanna and Davinder Pal were also present. The stage was moderated by Chitra.
