VIGILANCE BUREAU NABS ASI RED-HANDED ACCEPTING BRIBE OF RS FIVE THOUSANDS

In its ongoing crackdown on corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) today arrested ASI Ragwinder Prasad posted at police station kot Ise Khan district Moga. He was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from a complainant, resident of tehsil Malout district Sri Muktsar Sahib.

Disclosing this a spokesperson of VB said that a case was registered against the complainant's relatives in police station Kot Ise khan and the investigating officer ASI Ragwinder Prasad demanded a bribe of Rs. 20000/- in lieu of helping him in this case. On 6 November 2025, accused ASI called him via whatsapp and asked him to reach Judicial Complex Moga, where he took a bribe of Rs. 5000 from him.

Acting on complainant information, a VB team of SAS Nagar laid a trap and apprehended ASI Ragwinder Prasad red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

A case under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at the VB Police Station, SAS Nagar. The accused will be produced in competent court tomorrow, and further investigation is underway, the spokesperson added.
