ODISSI DANCE GURU SMT. PUSPITA MISHRA HONOURED WITH THE PRESTIGIOUS “SARAS SAMMAN”

Eminent Odissi dance exponent and distinguished Guru Smt. Puspita Mishra was formally conferred with the “Saras Samman” during the Saras Mahotsav held at Jatani, Khordha district. This recognition celebrates her exceptional contribution to the propagation and preservation of the classical dance form of Odissi at the national level.

The award ceremony was organized by Nrutyashree Dance Institution, where Smt. Mishra was honored in the presence of dignitaries, artists, and cultural representatives. Her lifelong dedication to the art has earned her significant acclaim across the country.

Born in 1971 in the historic temple city of Bhubaneswar, Smt. Puspita Mishra holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology and a Sangeet Visharad in Odissi Dance from Pracheen Kala Kendra, under Chandigarh University. She is a devoted disciple of Adi Guru Pankaj Charan Das, one of the founding pillars of Odissi dance.

Guru Mishra is the founder of the Odissi dance institute Kalingayana Touryyatrikam, based in Bhubaneswar. She is an empanelled artist of ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) and IRCEN, a Trustee and Official Signatory of Sarvodaya International Trust – Odisha Chapter, a Senior Fellowship recipient from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and an active member of the Bhubaneswar Music Circle.

Her continued excellence and contribution to Indian classical art make her one of the most respected figures in the Odissi dance fraternity.
