The Department of Microbiology, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCH&RC), Punjab, successfully conducted MicroScope 2025 – a one-day academic event focused on “The Era of Antimicrobial Resistance – Combating Superbugs” on 29th November 2025 in its New Chandigarh Campus.

The conference brought together renowned clinicians, researchers, academicians and healthcare professionals to address the urgent global challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The scientific sessions featured impactful keynote lectures on emerging resistance mechanisms, innovative treatment strategies, diagnostic advancements, and stewardship practices. Engaging activities such as a quiz competition, poster/oral paper presentations, and case-based panel discussions further enriched the learning experience.

Dr. Ashish Gulia, Director, HBCH&RC Punjab, expressed his appreciation for the participants and the initiative. He stated, “I am grateful to everyone who joined us and truly partnered with HBCHRC. Each participant carries a part of TMC’s ethos—our principles, education, service, and clinical commitment—forward into their own work. I hope MicroScope continues to grow in its vision and inspires other departments to follow suit.”

The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and generating ideas to promote responsible antibiotic use and strengthen the fight against drug-resistant infections. The Organizing Committee expressed gratitude to all faculty, delegates, sponsors, and participants for making MicroScope 2025 a resounding success.

In an endeavor to provide world-class Cancer care to the residents of Punjab and neighbouring states & UTs, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had dedicated 'Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre' to the Nation at Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar District, Mohali in August, 2022. The Hospital had been built at the cost of over Rs. 660 Crore by Tata Memorial Centre, an aided institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
