CBI COURT AWARDS 10 YEARS RI TO TWO FOR OVER RS. ONE CRORE FRAUD UNDER SGRY SCHEME

The CBI, Court Lucknow, on Thursday has convicted and sentenced Satya Narayan Prasad Patel, the then Village Pradhan and Shahnawaj Alam, the then Fair Price Shopkeeper (Kotedar) to 10 Years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with a total fine of Rs. 55,000 for Causing wrongful loss to the Govt. Exchequer of over Rs. One Crore. 

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 31.10.2008 against 172 accused persons by taking over the case crime No. 34/2006 of PS Narhi, Dist Ballia. It was alleged that the accused persons had caused wrongful loss to the Govt. Exchequer to the tune of Rs. 65.00 Lakh in cash and food grain worth Rs. 45.26 lakh and corresponding gain to themselves by cheating, fraud, and preparing forged documents under Sampurna Grameen Rozgar Yojna (SGRY). 

After completion of investigation, CBI filed chargesheet on 10.11.2010 against Satyendra Singh Gangwar, the then Chief Finance & Accounts Officer, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Ballia; Satya Narayan Prasad Patel, the then Village Pradhan and Shahnawaj Alam, the then Fair Price Shopkeeper (Kotedar). 

The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused persons accordingly. Ld. Court has acquitted Satyendra Singh Gangwar of all the charges leveled against him.
