ICCR REGIONAL DIRECTOR VISITS NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF AYURVEDA

The Regional Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), K. Ayyannar, visited the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Panchkula. On his arrival at NIA, he was welcomed by Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) Dr. Gaurav Garg, who briefed him in detail about the institute’s Ayurvedic treatments, academic programs, research, and medical activities. He informed that more than 500 patients are benefiting daily from Ayurvedic medical services through the OPD.

During the visit, the Regional Director inspected the Panchakarma therapy unit, OPD, and IPD services, and observed the Ayurvedic treatment methods being provided to patients. He appreciated the scientific approach of Ayurvedic treatments, patient care, and the overall treatment process.

The Regional Director described the quality healthcare services, research work, and efforts toward the promotion and propagation of Ayurveda by the National Institute of Ayurveda as commendable. He stated that institutions like NIA play an important role in giving international recognition to Ayurveda and the Indian knowledge tradition through ICCR. Interacting with foreign students, he also appreciated the institute’s efforts to promote Ayurveda in a modern framework.

Officiating Dean Professor Satish Gandharv informed the ICCR Regional Director that students are learning treatment practices alongside modern medical systems. The Regional Director also visited the academic block, classrooms, library, hostels, international hostel, and operation theatre, and praised the collection of modern medical books in the library.

Professor Satish Gandharv stated that under the aegis of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, the National Institute of Ayurveda, Panchkula, under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Sanjeev Sharma, is contributing significantly to the promotion of Ayurvedic medicine, education, and innovation.

On this occasion, Chief Hostel Warden Professor Prahlad Raghu, Dr. Anoop M., and Dr. Sheinsha were also prominently present.
