Face2News/Chandigarh:

Shri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, has taken a progressive step toward the welfare of female students and gender-sensitive academic policies by introducing menstrual leave for its students.

The college administration decided to implement this supportive provision in response to applications submitted by students and in accordance with the directions issued by the office of the Dean, University Instruction (DUI), Panjab University. The objective of this initiative is to recognize menstrual health as an essential aspect of students’ overall well-being and to promote more inclusive and student-centered academic policies.

College Principal Dr. Jaswinder Singh stated that this step reflects the institution’s commitment to prioritizing the physical and mental health of its students, upholding their dignity, and ensuring academic flexibility.

The students welcomed the decision, describing it as a positive and much-needed move toward menstrual health awareness. They expressed gratitude to the management, the Principal, Dean (Girls’ Students) Dr. Saroj Bala, and Ms. Amol Virk, Coordinator of the Student Grievance Redressal Committee, for implementing this welfare initiative.
