CHANDIGARH POLICE SWIFTLY SOLVES THEFT CASE WITHIN 2.30 HOURS

Chandigarh Police has once again demonstrated its efficiency and commitment towards public safety by swiftly solving a theft case within a remarkably short span of time through the effective use of CCTV surveillance, technical analysis, and personal intelligence.

A Case FIR No. 12 dated 27.01.2026 U/s 305 added 317(2) BNS PS-19, UT, Chandigarh was registered on the complaint of Anshul Yadav S/o Yogesh Yadav R/o House No. 3107, Sector-20D, Chandigarh, who stated that he was residing as a tenant at House No. 3107, top floor, along with his friend Ankit. On 25.01.2026 at about 10:00 AM, it was discovered that unknown person had committed theft of a 14-inch laptop, and a gents purse belonging to Ankit containing a gold chain weighing approximately 15 grams along with a white Apple iPhone-13, from their rented room.

Immediately after registration of the case, a dedicated police team was constituted. CCTV cameras installed in and around the area were thoroughly analyzed, during which a suspicious person was noticed moving on the staircase around the time of occurrence. Simultaneously, local sources and personal intelligence were activated, which helped in further narrowing down the suspect. Based on the credible clues developed through meticulous CCTV scrutiny and human intelligence, the accused Karan Sharma (Age-23 years) S/o Satish Sharma R/o House No. 105, near Park, Dadu Majra, Chandigarh, was identified and apprehended on same day i.e. 27.01.2026. The accused was arrested within just 2 hours and 30 minutes of focused efforts.

During the course of interrogation, the stolen laptop and mobile phone were successfully recovered from his possession. To recover remaining stolen property, one day police custody of accused was obtained from Hon’ble Court today i.e. 28.01.2026. Further, the investigation of case is underway.
