VICTORY IS IN SIGHT! HOUSE AG COMMITTEE APPROVES THE GREYHOUND PROTECTION ACT

Raj Sadosh, Abohar (India).

History was made in Washington, DC last night. At 9:19 pm and after just 14 minutes of debate, the House Committee on Agriculture voted decisively in favor of ending dog racing nationwide!

That’s right, the US Greyhound Protection Act may soon become the law of the land. We are particularly proud to have joined hands with Wayne Pacelle and Animal Wellness Action in reaching this critical milestone.

The GREY2K team said, “At this time, we hope you will thank Representative Salud Carbajal of California for filing our bill as an amendment to the Farm, Food and National Security Act of 2026 (Farm Bill). He was enthusiastically joined by Representatives Zach Nunn of Iowa and North Carolina’s Don Davis in bringing the plight of greyhounds before the Ag Committee last night.”

(SUBHEAD)Drafted by President Christine Dorchak, this comprehensive measure will accomplish three key goals: prohibit dog racing nationwide, bar American gamblers from betting on foreign races and importantly, block the export of American dogs for racing elsewhere.

The Greyhound Protection Act will now move with the Farm Bill to the full House of Representatives for a plenary vote. It will then go to the Senate and then hopefully reach President Trump’s desk for his signature!

Along with DC lobbyist John Simpson, Executive Director Carey Theil and Advocacy Director Patrick Baga have worked night and day to lobby for this measure. They will keep working until American greyhounds are finally safe from the cruelty of racing.
