Pushpa Gujral Science City, in collaboration with I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, organized INNO-TECH 2026 to mark the 21st Annual Day of Science City. More than 300 students from various engineering and polytechnic colleges across Punjab showcased their innovative models and projects during the event.
Addressing the budding engineers, Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director Pushpa Gujral Science City, said that innovation is a major driving force for a nation’s sustainable growth and competitiveness in the era of globalization. He emphasized that innovative ideas help in simplifying complex processes, making them more efficient and economical, which ultimately leads to the development of new products, technologies and opportunities. Further, he added that the people of Punjab, especially in rural areas, are widely known for their creativity and innovative thinking. Therefore, it is essential to provide suitable platforms to channelize the potential of Punjabi youth and nurture their talent in the fields of science and technology.

Ritesh Kumar Pathak, Scientist-D and Programme Coordinator, said that the event was organized with the objective of encouraging innovation and creativity among students of professional colleges through the development of working models. He added that such initiatives also help individual innovators explore opportunities to become technology-based entrepreneurs.
The INNO-TECH 2026 competition concluded with exceptional displays of ingenuity and innovation from the participants. After a rigorous evaluation process by the esteemed panelists—Dr. Balwinder Singh Sooch from Punjabi University, Patiala; Dr. Raman Kumar from IKGPTU; and Dr. Vikas Handa from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology—the results were announced as follows:
In the Software Engineering category, Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran secured the top position for their project “SHE Shield.”
In the Polytechnic category, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic College, Ludhiana received the first prize for their project “Civic Connect.”
In the Automobile Engineering category, the first prize was awarded to Chandigarh Engineering College for their project “Electromagnetic Braking System.”
In the Polytechnic category (Automobile), Mehar Chand Polytechnic College, Jalandhar secured the first prize for their project “Smart Accident Alert System with Location Tracking.”
In the Mechatronics Engineering category, Chandigarh Engineering College achieved first position with their project “Sinchit.”
In the Polytechnic category (Mechatronics), the first prize was awarded to Lovely Professional University for their project “Guardian Women’s Safety Gloves.”
