PHOTO EXHIBITION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH HELD UNDER ‘VISA FRAUD SE BACHO’ CAMPAIGN

Continuing its efforts to raise awareness about visa-related fraud and promote safe and legal travel routes to the UK, the British High Commission organised a photo exhibition and community engagement session in Kurukshetra under its ongoing ‘Visa Fraud Se Bacho’ campaign.
(MOREPIC1) In collaboration with Indira Gandhi National College, Ladwa, the British High Commission hosted a special photo exhibition at the college campus aimed at educating students about the risks of visa scams and irregular migration.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Alba Smeriglio, British Deputy High Commissioner Chandigarh; Charlotte Abbott, Second Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs at the British High Commission in New Delhi; Pawan Gaur, President of the college; and Prof. Kushal Pal, Principal.
Through real-life case studies and visual storytelling, the exhibition highlighted the common tactics used by fraudsters, the consequences of illegal migration, and the importance of following verified and lawful visa processes. The initiative encouraged students and young travellers to seek authentic information and make informed decisions regarding overseas education and employment opportunities.
(SUBHEAD)Following the exhibition, the British High Commission team visited Village Ajrani in Kurukshetra district to interact with local residents as part of its community outreach programme. During the session, villagers were sensitised about the growing threat of visa fraud and were advised to rely only on official sources for travel and migration guidance.
The team also informed community members about a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot launched by the British High Commission to provide verified UK travel guidance in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. The chatbot helps users identify fraudulent practices and offers reliable information on legal routes to travel to the UK.
In addition, individuals can access support through a WhatsApp helpline (+91 70652 51380), which provides guidance on visa procedures, scam awareness, and safe migration pathways.
Through the ‘Visa Fraud Se Bacho’ campaign, the British High Commission continues to collaborate with educational institutions, community organisations, and local stakeholders to protect aspiring travellers from fraud, promote safe mobility, and strengthen awareness about legitimate migration systems.
