The British Deputy High Commission, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Alliance Française Chandigarh, hosted a special screening of 'Five films for freedom' on Monday at Alliance Française, Sector 36.

The event was attended by Alba Smeriglio, British Deputy High Commissioner, Chandigarh, along with a diverse audience, including social workers, LGBTQIA community members, filmmakers, educationists, and students.

Five Films For Freedom is the world’s widest-reaching digital celebration of LGBTQIA+ themed short films organized by British Council and BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival in support of LGBTQIA+ rights. This year's Five Films For Freedom selection includes heartwarming and personal stories from France, Vietnam, Brazil, the UK and USA/Mexico.

This year, 'Five Films For Freedom' runs from March 18 to March 29, encouraging global audiences to watch and support LGBTQIA storytelling.

The films will be available to audiences worldwide to stream online for free via the British Council’s digital platforms, and on BFI Player in the UK.
