CBI COURT SENTENCES TWO RAILWAY OFFICIALS TO THREE YEARS IMPRISONMENT WITH A FINE IN A CORRUPTION CASE

The CBI Court (West), Lucknow on Tuesday, has convicted and sentenced Bharat Chaudhary, Sr. Material Manager, Diesel Depot, Gonda, and Rajesh Kumar Sharma, the then ACMT (Laboratory), NER, Gorakhpur, to Imprisonment for Three Years with a total fine of Rs. 90,000 in a corruption case. 

The CBI registered the instant case on 07.08.2014 on the basis of source information. Investigation disclosed that during the period 2008 to 2013, the accused public servants namely Bharat Chaudhary, Sr. Material Manager, Diesel Depot, Gonda, Kapil Deo Sharma, Manager, RITES, Kanpur and Rajesh Kumar Sharma, the then ACMT (Laboratory), NER, Gorakhpur in criminal conspiracy with accused private person namely Rabindra Kumar Bhalotia, Sole Proprietor of M/s Riddhi Siddhi Udyog, Kolkata cheated the govt. by committing forgery and falsification of records to show undue favour to the suspect firm namely M/s Riddhi Siddhi Udyog, Kolkata by issuing false inspection certificates without actually conducting the inspections of the material at the site of manufacturing unit and also passing the sub-standard materials which were supplied to different Zonal Railways at exorbitant rates by the said private firm causing wrongful loss of around Rs.65 lakh to the Railways.

 

After completion of investigation, CBI filed chargesheet on 30.08.2018 against Bharat Chaudhary, Sr. Material Manager, Kapil Deo Sharma, Manager, RITES, Rajesh Kumar Sharma, the then ACMT (Laboratory), NER, Gorakhpur, Ravindra Kumar Bhalotia, Proprietor of M/s Riddhi Siddhi Udyog and M/s Riddhi Siddhi Udyog.

 

The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly. During the trial, the accused Kapil Deo Sharma, Manager, RITES, Kanpur, and Ravindra Kumar Bhalotia, sole proprietor of M/s Riddhi Siddhi Udyog, expired, and the proceedings against them were abated.
