The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Ferozepur Range, has busted a cross-border drug trafficking network and recovered 12.1 kg of heroin, while arresting a key courier allegedly involved in the smuggling racket.

SP ANTF Gurinderbir Singh said the accused, Jagsir Singh alias Lovi of Badal Ke Uthar village in Fazilka district, was arrested near Mohan Ke village in Guruharsahai following specific intelligence inputs. A civil engineering diploma student studying in Muktsar, he had allegedly joined the drug network in pursuit of easy money.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused worked as a second-line courier, collecting drug consignments after drone drops and facilitating their further delivery. Police suspect he had recently handled consignments containing narcotics and sophisticated weapons.

The probe further revealed that the network operated through GPS-based dead-drop locations and encrypted communication channels. The accused was allegedly receiving instructions from a Pakistan-based handler identified as “Chacha” operating from the Kasur region.

Police have seized the accused’s mobile phone for forensic examination and are investigating the forward and backward links of the network. An FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered and further investigations are underway.
