A major drug-smuggling network has been uncovered in Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh districts, which lie along the Pakistan border. In two significant operations conducted by the CID (Zone) and local police, approximately 13.5 kg of heroin have been seized. Six suspects, including a couple, have been arrested in connection with these operations.

According to sources, two suspects were arrested near the 365 Head police outpost. A total of 4.132 kg of heroin, packed into eight separate packets, was recovered from their possession. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jaswinder Singh and Jaswant Singh, both residents of Arniwala area, Fazilka.

Bikaner Range IG Om Prakash said that one of the accused from Arniwala was wanted in two prior cases—dating back to 2025—involving a total of 3 kilograms of heroin.

The police had received intelligence that two suspects had arrived in the area to collect a consignment of heroin dropped by Pakistani smugglers via drone. They had also conducted reconnaissance to identify suitable locations for such drone drops. Acting on this crucial information, the Sadar police station, Sriganganagar set up a blockade, leading to the arrest of both individuals along with the heroin in the early hours of the morning.

Prior to this, a team from Sriganganagar CID (Zone) apprehended four suspects in the Goluwala (Hanumangarh) following a pursuit. This group included a married couple. Authorities recovered 9.821 kg of heroin, 185,000 rupees in cash, and two luxury vehicles from them. Police identified the arrested individuals as Hasham Ali, his wife Ravina, and his mother Gulzar—all residents of Hansaliya (Goluwala). The fourth accused, Balwinder Singh, is a resident of the village Raipur Gujran, tehsil Nakodar in Jalandhar district. Cases under the NDPS Act were registered, investigation going on
