In a proud moment for this border district, 16-year-old Hezal from Ferozepur has been selected to participate in the International Human Rights Summit 2026 to be held in Vancouver, Canada, where she will highlight issues concerning border farmers.

According to information, Hezal, a Class XII student, has been selected by the “Voices for Rights International Association” in recognition of her social contribution. Representatives from more than 40 countries are expected to participate in the summit.

Hezal said that Punjab’s farmers are regarded as the “annadata” (providers of food), yet they continue to face numerous challenges. She said that if Punjab’s farmers prosper, the state can emerge as one of the most prosperous regions in the world. “Border farmers deserve greater recognition and respect for their contribution,” she added.

Hezal’s father, Bachittar Singh, is an agriculturist and had remained closely associated with former three-time MP late Sardar Zora Singh Mann, while her mother, Mandeep Manocha, is a teacher.

Bachittar Singh said the concerns of border farmers were prominently raised by Sardar Zora Singh Mann in Parliament on several occasions. “Today, I feel proud that my daughter will raise the voice of the people of this border region on an international platform,” he said.
