VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTED CHEEKA SHO INSPECTOR DEMANDING BRIBE OF RS. FIVE THOUSAND

The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau (HSVB) reported to arrested Inspector Jai Veer, posted as Station Housing Officer (SHO) at Chika police station  for soliciting bribe from the complainant in exchange for resolving a pending complaint.

A spokesperson of the bureau said that Chand Ram, a resident of Chika in Kaithal district, had lodged a complaint with the bureau against the accused police officer, alleging that for settling a case pending against him at Chika police station, the said officer  has demanded  Rs 5,000  as bribe. 

(SUBHEAD)While processing the complaint, a Vigilance Bureau team raided and arrested the accused police officer in the presence of a duty magistrate and a shadow witness.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused police officer at the Bureau's Ambala police station.

The matter is being seriously investigated.
