RoundGlass Punjab FC produced a memorable comeback to register a 4-3 victory against Aizawl FC in their I-League 2021-22 match on Friday at the Kalyani Stadium in West Bengal. CK Vineeth and Joseba Beitia scored in the first half while injury-time strikes from Kurtis Guthrie and Bikash Yumnam gave the Club a fantastic win, taking it to the top of the league standings.

The match began at a frenetic pace with both sides pushing for the initiative. RoundGlass Punjab FC's first major chance came through Vineeth in the ninth minute as he raced towards the goal, but the ball was smothered by the rival keeper.

Aizawl FC took the lead in the 24th minute through David Lalhlansanga and seven minutes before half-time, Vineeth equalized for RoundGlass Punjab FC. Bikash Yumnam, wearing the captain's armband, crossed the ball from the right flank and it was put into the net by Vineeth with a towering header.

Ramhlunchhunga gave Mizoram the lead again in the 40th minute with a finish from a close range. However, Vineeth was in the thick of things again for RoundGlass Punjab FC as he raced into the penalty area and was brought down with a foul. Beitia tucked home the resulting penalty-kick in the 45th minute as both sides went into the breather with the scores level at 2-2.

Dipanda Dicka scored from the spot for Aizawl FC two minutes after the break as RoundGlass Punjab FC went after the third equalizer. With 20 minutes left to play, Aizawl FC were reduced to 10 men after left-back Vanlalnghenga received a second yellow card for a foul on Travis Major. Guthrie spun at the edge of the penalty box and fired a powerful effort on goal in the 74th minute, only to be denied by a diving save.

Chances continued to flow and in the second minute of injury time, Guthrie scored his sixth goal of the season to level the score for the third time. A minute later, Yumnam jumped the highest and headed home from a corner-kick to secure an unforgettable victory in the dying embers of the match.

With this result, RoundGlass Punjab FC move to the first place on the league table with 10 points from four matches played. In its next match, the Club will go up against Sreenidi Deccan FC on March 15.
