DISCUSSES THE POTENTIAL OF RENEWABLE ENERGY IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR

ASSOCHAM’s North Regional Council Chair for Power and Renewable Energy, Mr. Simarpreet Singh met Dr. Basharat Qayoom, MD KPDCL, and Mr. Raja Yaqoob Farooq, MD JKSPDC to discuss the potential of Renewable energy and power efficiency in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr. Simarpreet Singh, briefed Dr. Qayoom about ASSOCHAM’s North regional Council for Power and Renewable energy and assured him of full cooperation in strengthening the distribution system in Kashmir.

He also proposed some activities in partnership with KPDCL to streamline the distribution system in Kashmir.

Dr. Qayoom also agreed that chambers like ASSOCHAM can contribute a lot to making the power sector more efficient and strengthened.(SUBHEAD)

In another meeting with Mr. Raja Yaqoob Farooq, MD JKSPDC, Mr. Singh discussed the potential of Solar energy in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that J&K has a lot of potential in Solar Energy and it should be done on the fast track to fulfilling the growing demand for energy in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr. Farooq informed that JKPDC is very keen to expand its solar network in J&K and is working tirelessly on it. “J&K will see big solar plants coming to UT very soon,” he said.

Mr. Simarpreet Singh also presented the ASSOCHAM’s North Regional Compendium to the officials and assured them of full cooperation from ASSOCHAM for the holistic growth of Jammu and Kashmir.
