CBI ARRESTS AN APPRAISER. HIS ASSOCIATE IN A BRIBERY OF RS.ONE LAKH

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Appraiser, Customs Departments, IGI Airport, New Delhi and his Associate (CHA) in a bribery case of Rs.One Lakh.

A case was registered on complaint against the accused on the allegations that the Appraiser, Customs, IGI Airport, New Delhi demanded an illegal gratification of Rs. 1,40,000/- from the Complainant for clearance of his shipment. It was also alleged that the Complainant was exporting batteries to South Africa.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting bribe of Rs.1,00,000/-. Searches are being conducted at the office & residential premises of both the accused.

According to CBI, a Complaint dated 24.05.2022 of Shri Amit Bhaskar, S/o Sh.Manmohan, R/o H-3/115, Vikaspuri, Delhi has been received in the O/o SP,CBI, ACB, Delhi alleging therein that the complainant is managing partner in the firm M/s. Bhaskar Batteries, India Located at A-2/4B, Chankya Place, New Delhi-110059. The firm sent shipment of batteries to South Africa.

It is alleged that Sh.Amit Dalal, Customs Supde~intendent, Delhi demanded bribe of Rs.1,40,000/- in lieu of two shipments cleared earlier and also assured the complainant for smooth clearance of his future shipments in lieu of payment of Rs.85,000/- per shipment. The complaint is enclosed herewith.

The allegation mentioned in the complaint have been verifiedon ,which confirmed the demand of undue advantage on the part of Amit Dalal, Customs Superintendent, IGI Airport, New Delhi. 

The aforesaid allegations disclose prima-facie commission of offence u/s 7 of PC Act, 1988(as amended in 2018) on the part of Amit Dalal,  Customs Superintendent, IGI Airport, New Delhi. Hence, a Regular Case is registered against Amit Dalal, Customs  Superintendent, IGI Airport, New Delhi under rules ls 7 of PC Act, 1988(as amended in 2018) and endorsed to Sh. Ajay Kumar Singh, Inspector, CBI, ACB, Delhi for investigation.
