CHANDIGARH POLICE NABS BIG GAMBLERS ON BETTING IPL MATCHES, 17 LACS RECOVERED

Local Police achieved a major success by arresting gambler namely (1) Hitesh Hans S/O Joginder Singh R/O # 2215, Sec 63 Chd Age 34 Years (2) Raju Thapa S/O Hari Parsad R/O # 2337, Block No 32, Housing Board Sec 63 Chd Age 30 Years in case FIR No. 84 dated 31.05.2022 u/s 13.3.67 Gambling Act & 420, 120-B IPC PS-39 Chandigarh and recovered 17,47,500 Indian currency rupees from their
possession.

On Monday, Sh. Devender Kumar Sharma, DSP/DCC received a secret information that two or three persons are gambling at open ground near Vivek High School Sector-38/B Chandigarh and also have huge amount which they have earned from the innocent people after making them for betting on IPL Cricket Matches.

(SUBHEAD)On that information a  team of DCC under the close supervision of Inspector Narinder Patial, I/C DCC conducted the raid and nabbed the culprits namely 1) Hitesh Hans S/O Joginder Singh R/O 2215 Sec63 Chd Age 34 years 2) Raju Thapa S/O Hari Parsad R/O # 2337, block no 32, Housing Board Sec 63 Chd Age 30 years while they were gambling in a ground near vivek High School, Sector-38, Chandigarh.

A total amount of Rs 11,67,500/- was recovered from their possession. During interrogation accused Hitesh Hans disclosed that he works for one Sanjay Khurana, r/o Sector-45, Chandigarh.

During checking of Hitesh's I-20 car bearing number CH-01BQ-0092 more amount Rs 5,80,000/- has been recovered which Hitesh had to deliver to Sanjay  Khurana as the same was taken from the customer who lost while betting with them on the IPL matches. A total amount of Rs 17,47,500/- has been recovered.

During investigation 02 days police remand of accused Hitesh Hans and Raju Thapa has been obtained from the Hon’ble court to nab the remaining accused as well as to break the nexus of gambler in the
tri-city. Further investigation is on progress.
