MONTH-LONG ‘ANTI TOBACCO’ CAMPAIGN CONCLUDES

A month-long 'Campaign 2022' on ‘Anti Tobacco’ awareness project which was organised by city-based non-profit organization Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society has concluded. The activities under the campaign ended with an inter-school Declamation contest on Tobacco and its Harmful Effect. The competition was presided over by UT District Education Officer (DEO) Prabhjot Kaur and was held at St Stephen School, Sector 45, here. As many as fifty-six schools participated in the contest.

Performance of the students was outstanding. The 1st prize went to Nikita of Shri Aurobindo School and Garima from AKSIPS 41. 2nd prize was bagged by Akansh Negi Shivalik Public and Twinkle Pratap of Gian Jyoti Global School , 3rd prize went to Garima of Shri Harkishan Public School and Prachi Yadav of KBDAV. Consolation prize went to Siffat Sethi of St Kabir and Malvika Kanwar of St Joseph.

(SUBHEAD)Before the declamation contest an inter school Nukkad Natak contest was held in St Soldier Divine Public School , Panchkula under Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society's campaign. Thirteen schools and 100 students participated in this. Talent of the students was worth watching. The Chief Guest, Nirupama Krishna, DEEO Panchkula gave away the prizes. First prize went to Bhawan Vidyalaya, 2nd prize to Sanskriti Government School, Panchkula and 3rd prize to Gurukul Public School, Panchkula , a consolation prize was given to Doon Public School,Panchkula .

'Campaign 2022' against the Tobacco menace started at the grass-root level with a series of interactive sessions at different Government Model Schools in sectors 8, 10, 26 and 38 where students participated with full enthusiasm and also took a pledge against taking tobacco.

A poster making activity was also organized for developing awareness in the children.

It is imperative to mention that tobacco kills over 8 million people and destroys our environment, further harming human health through cultivation, production, consumption and post-consumption waste. In view of the rising problem of the tobacco menace – Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society has been actively conducting the campaigns and raising awareness among the people about its harmful effects on humans and the environment.
