“HEALTH, HARMONY AND HAPPINESS: A YOGIC WAY” SPECIAL PROGRAM ORGANIZED BY GOVT YOGA COLLEGE CHANDIGARH

In prelude to the celebrations of 8th International Day of Yoga , Government College of Yoga Education and Health, Sector 23A, Chandigarh in collaboration with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Chandigarh Outreach Bureau and ICSSR North Western Regional Centre, Panjab University and Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration organised a programme Health, Harmony and Happiness: A Yogic Way .

Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal of the college while welcoming guests and congratulating the participants quoted that yoga is a means to unite and outreach the community for reaping the holistic health benefits of this ancient tradition of India.

(SUBHEAD)Chief guest of the occasion Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Director ICSSR while emphasising the importance of health in one’s life laid stress on the eminent role of yoga in leading a happy and healthy life.

Ms. Sapna, Deputy Director, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Chandigarh Outreach Bureau acknowledged the concerted efforts of all the collaborating institutions for organising the event and also shared her vision to spread the message of yoga through various activities and measures. Dr. Sarita Godwani , Consultant, Poshan Abhiyan , Department of Social Welfare emphasised the role of yoga for the health of children and women.The yoga asana demonstration was given by Shivani and Tanya of B.Ed. Yoga .

The events of the programme were slogan writing/poster making , Yoga quiz and Yoga asana competition which were successfully conducted and there was an enthusiastic participation from students as well as anganwadi workers and the prizes were given to the winners of all the events.

The prizes of the programme were sponsored by Ms. Sapna , Deputy Director, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Chandigarh Outreach Bureau.Ms. Anupma and Ms. Sheeraj were the organisers of the event. The judges of the various events were Dr. Gunanidhi Sharma, Ms.Sarghi Kohli, Mr. Sumant Batish, Ms. Rajwant Kaur, Dr. Mohinder Kumar and Mr. Kulwant Singh. Vote of thanks was extended by Ms. Sarghi Kohli.The event concluded with the national anthem. The programme was attended by around 120 participants.
