Police has achieved a major success in busting a racket of cheating by cyber criminals. Their modus operandi is using money through online fraud – hacking, card cloning, skimming etc, using it to purchase goods and selling it immediately to receive handy cash. Further, they tap the elaborate Angadia network to deliver the cash to the destination. Police recovered Rs 35,70,000 cash and Jewellery worth Rs 12,94,796 recovered from them. 

A trap was laid upon receipt of information that Gold articles using similar Modus Operandi was bought from Caratlane Tanishq, Sector 17 using Digigold payment gateway.

An attempt was made to sell the jewellery for cash which was foiled by team led by SHO Sarangpur, Chandigarh Police. A case FIR no. 36 Dt. 24.06.2022 U/S 406, 419, 420, 34 IPC and 66 (D) IT Act PS Sarangpur, Chandigarh, was registered/

The Police identified the accused as Chauhan Ratan S/o Satuji R/o 2521, Sec 47-C, Chandigarh and Parmar Rajeshji S/o Cheharji R/o 2521, Sec 47-C, Chandigarh

So far, Rs 35,70,000 cash and Jewellery worth Rs 12,94,796 recovered from them. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
