Kartik Popli (27), son of Sanjay Popli 2008 Batch Punjab IAS, who was died following bullet injury on Satyurday after noon in Sector 11 house, was cremated here on Monday after postmortem was conducted by a team of forensic doctors in PGIMR .
The dead body was handed over to the parents for cremation. The post-mortem of the deceased Karthik was first done at PGI and after that his body was handed over to the relatives for the last rites.
The last rites of the deceased Karthik were performed at Sector-25 crematorium. IAS Sanjay Popli set his pyre on fire. The officers of Punjab Police had brought with them to perform the last rites of Karthik. He was granted special permission by the court to join the last rites of his son. (SUBHEAD)
It is said that the bullet in the forehead of the deceased Karthik had gone through. However, the bullet caused a much bigger and deeper wound inside the head.
The mother and father of deceased had accused the Punjab Vigilance team of this incident of Karthik being shot. The family members were crying and shouting that the Vigilance team took their son's life. However, the Chandigarh Police, who came to investigate after the incident, called it a suicide. At the same time, the Punjab Vigilance team has also categorically denied any foul play.
It may be recalled that on June 20, IAS Sanjay Popli was arrested from Chandigarh by Vigilance. Since then the vigilance action in respect of Sanjay Popli is going on continuously. On Saturday huge quantity of Gold and Silver with cash was recovered from the house of Popli on Saturday.
