BIG SHOCKING TRAGIC INCIDENT ON PART OF ADMIN NEGLIGENCY: ONE CARMEL STUDENT DIES, SEVERAL INJURED , MAGISTERIAL ENQUIRY ORDERED

In a big tragic incident and shocking, a old tree felled on students during recess, with resulty one teenager female student died and 18 other injured. Meanwhile the Magestrial Enquiry have been ordered.

This tragic incident was took place  on Friday at Carmel Convent school, Sector 9 wherein a tree fell in the school premises at approximately 11:30 AM. 

A total of 19 students and a female attendant (40 years) were reported injured during this incident. It is unfortunate to mention that one student Hirakshi Class 10th student of Carmel Convent School (Sector 9, Chandigarh), was immediately rushed to PGIMER wherein she was declared brought dead.

Deceased parents were gone to Shimla and rushed back to Chandigarh. (SUBHEAD)(MOREPIC2)  

11 students who have suffered minor injuries were being treated in GMSH 16 under the supervision of Director Health Services and will be discharged after medical examination. Four students who have suffered minor injuries went to Fortis Hospital and two went to Mukut Hospital and are reported to be stable.

The female attendant and one student have now been shifted to PGIMER from GMSH-16 and are under continuous monitoring of doctors at PGIMER. 

Home Secretary, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioner, Chief Conservator of Forest and Secretary Health of Chandigarh Administration rushed to the school, GMSH-16 and PGIMER. 

A committee of the officials from Municipal Corporation, Forest Department, Horticulture Wing has been constituted to visit the schools and other education institutions and inspect the trees in and around the premises to avoid any such incident in the future.

Chandigarh BJP, The Administrator and the Adviser have expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased.

ROLE OF DESASTER MANAGEMENT

The Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector-16, Chandigarh received a Disaster Call following an Incident in which a Tree fell on school children at Carmel Convent School, Sector-09, Chandigarh. Immediately on receiving the Disaster Call, ambulances along with the team of doctors and paramedics were rushed to the School. Twelve (12) School Children and one (01) bus attendant were brought to the Hospital from the School between 11.20 AM to 11.55 AM. All of them were immediately attended by the team of doctors including specialists from the departments Orthopedics, Medicine, Surgery and Pediatrics.

After initial examination one school student and the bus attendant who had some serious injuries were immediately referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh following stabilization and treatment. Proper co-ordination was ensured with the PGIMER so that best possible immediate treatment is provided.

Two students showed fracture on their X-rays reports and on request of the parents, one of them was referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh for further management.

The remaining 09 students in the GMSH-16 were stable and needful tests including X-Rays and CT-Scans were done. The best possible treatment is being provided, as per the protocol, to the students admitted in GMSH-16 and they are expected to be discharged shortly. 

MAGESTRIAL ENQUIRY ORDRED

The District Magistrate of UT Chandigarh, has ordered Magisterial Enquiry of the tragic incident. Three members, which includes SDM Central, Executive Engineer (Horticulture), Range Officer, Forest Deptt. of UT Chandigarh, will conduct enquiry and directed them to report within week.

NITIKA PAWAR ORDERED  TO CONDUCT A CHILD SAFETY AUDIT OF ALL SCHOOL

iIn the meantime Carmel Convent School incident, Nitika Pawar, Secretary Social Welfare, Women & Child Development has issued directions to the Chairperson, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights to conduct a child safety audit of all the schools across UT Chandigarh

INCIDENT RAISES QUESTIONS

When the complaint was submitted, why the action was not taken immediately. Whether the Administration wait for any mishap. Even the honey bee home (Chhatta) was also seem the felled tree. tree.
