NELSON MANDELA DAY HELD IN MODEL JAIL

An event in honour of Nelson Mandela Day, 2022 was held in collaboration with the Institute of Correctional Administration, Sector, 26 with great enthusiasm in Model Jail  here today.

Activities such as Poster Making Competition, Singing Competition, Poetry Competition, Note on Best use of Time in Prison (Verbal or writing) and Push-up competition were organized in the jail for the inmates. Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest on this occasion.(SUBHEAD)

Sh. Deepak Purohit, IPS, IG Prisons UT, Chandigarh, Dr. Upneet Lalli, Deputy Director, ICA and other Jail Officers were also present on this occasion. The top three participants of each event were given certificates by the chief Guest. Other inmates were also given participation certificates to boost their moral. IG Prisons gave a brief account of Nelson Mandela rules to the prisoners.

The chief Guest Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration told that we should learn from the ideology of Nelson Mandela who spent 27 years of his life in Prison and he fought against white domination.
