In a tragic incident, a farmer belonging to Village Nathu Singh Wala allegedly committed suicide by consuming insecticides. The deceased farmer has been identified as Rashpal Singh (56) son of Jagtar Singh. As per information available, Rashpal was under stress due to the debt of Rs. 12-15 Lakh on him. Sources said that he owned around 5 canal agriculture land while he owed lakhs to commission agents and banks which he was unable to repay. “He had even sold his land but still he was still not able to repay the debt due to which he was tensed”, said Satnam Singh, one of the relatives of Rashpal.

ASI Gurmit Singh from Ferozepur Sadar said that the police has registered a case under section 174 IPC at Ferozepur Sadar police station.

Meanwhile, Avtar Singh Mahima farmer union leader said that the government should provide some financial assistance to the family members of Rashpal Singh.

Rashpal is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.
