ASSISTANT ACCOUNTS OFFICER AND DATA ENTRY OPERATOR HELD TAKING BRIBE WORTH RS 3.5 LAKH

Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has arrested an Assistant Accounts Officer working in the office of Accountant General, Haryana and a Data Entry Operator posted in the Treasury office in Gharaunda, Karnal while taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in cash and Rs 2.5 lakh cheque from the complainant in lieu of processing pension-related bills of his deceased father.

Sharing the information here today, the Bureau’s spokesperson informed that arrested accused were identified as Parmod, Assistant Accounts Officer and Deepak, Data Entry Operator.

(SUBHEAD)Both the accused had demanded Rs 4 lakh to release the retirement benefits including pension, gratuity and others of a retired police personnel, who died after retirement. They had already taken Rs 40,000 from the complainant.

The complainant, a resident of village Dadupur, Karnal, had approached the Vigilance Bureau which laid a trap and arrested the accused red-handed accepting Rs 1 lakh in cash with Rs 2.5 lakh cheque.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the accused in Karnal. Further investigation is underway.
