CCPCR CELEBRATED TEEJ AND BREASTFEEDING WEEK WITH AGANWADI CENTERS OF RAMDARBAR & PALSORA.

Under the ‘Haste Angan’ initiative Chandigarh Commission For Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) organized a special event at Aganwadi Center, Palsora, Chandigarh to mark the International Breastfeeding Week and to impart knowledge about the importance of Breastfeeding among the pregnant women as well as lactating mothers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR emphasized the value of breastfeeding for mothers as well as children. She told that Breastfeeding supports the development of healthy gut bacteria in children. Also, Breastmilk contains antibodies that are tailored to help the baby fight infections circulating in the environment.

Further Mrs. Monika, Child Development Project Officer highlighted the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life and then supplemented breastfeeding for at least one year and up to two years or more. Informative posters on Breastfeeding were also distributed by the CCPCR for mass awareness.

Along with this, Commission celebrated Teej and imparted awareness sessions at Aganwadi Center, Ramdarbar. Godh Bharai ceremony of pregnant women was performed at the center and baskets containing healthy food items were given to them by the Chairperson, CCPCR along with Mrs. Sukhdev Kaur, Child development project Officer & Mrs. Ankita, POCSO Consultant, CCPCR.

Final-year law interns from Panjab University interacted with the beneficiaries and Aaganwari workers. They also came to know about the functionality of Aganwadi Centers at grass root level.
