DEMAND TO BAN BUTCHERIES, SALE OF NON-VEG DURING PARYUSHAN MAHAPARVA

Shraman Dr.Pushpendra of Shri Tarak Guru Jain Granthalaya,has approached Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann demanding to impose a complete ban on the operation of slaughterhouses and the purchase and sale of meat, fish during the period of Paryushan Mahaparva of the Jain community.

He said that Indian culture is a non-violent culture. This culture is widely promoted by the Jain community.

Taking cognizance of his letter, the Chief Minister's Office has issued instructions to the senior officers to take action on the said demand.

Dr. Pushpendra informed that this year Paryushan Mahaparva will start from 24th August which will end with Samvatsari Mahaparva on 31st August 2022. Paryushan festival is celebrated in the country and abroad with the worship of penance, non-violence and forgiveness.(SUBHEAD)

He said that the kings, Ranas and Mughal rulers of India also banned non-vegetarian food during the days of Paryushan. At present, many state governments and local bodies are also banning animal-slaughter and sale of non-vegetarian food on the festival of Paryushan and Samvatsari.

Vishwa Jain Sangathan (Punjab Chapter) convener Dr. Sandeep Jain has thanked the Haryana Government for issuing orders to close the slaughterhouses and ban the sale of non-veg on Samvatsariafter the Jain festival Paryushan. The NGO has also urged the Punjab government to fulfill the long-standing demand of Jains to issue such orders in compliance with the instructions issued by the Minorities Commission.
