Top seed Ishaque Eqbal entered into the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Verka CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here.
Ishaque Eqbal defeated Amit Bazad in a one sided match 6-1, 6-0 in straight sets. Fourth seed Neeraj Yashpaul overplayed Shubham Malhotra of Delhi in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Dhananjay Singh upset 7th seed Chandril Sood in a 3 setter closed contestant match 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(2).
After f first set down Dhananjay came back strongly in second set. Dhananjay won the set 6-2, in the final set both players played high quality tennis, finally Dhananjay won the final set in tie break 7-6(2). 2nd seed Dalwinder Singh, Sarthak Suden, Suraj Prabodh, Maan Kesarwani and Siddharth Arya also advanced into Quarterfinals.
Doubles:
Top seed Chandril Sood and Lakshit Sood advanced into Semifinals in the Men’s doubles. Sood Brothers defeated Aditya Nandal and his partner Nitin Jaipal Singh 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets. Dalwinder Singh and Suraj Prabodh upset 2nd seed Maan Kesarwani and Hemant Kumar in a three setter match 3-6, 6-3, 11-9.
