The Southern Star AWWA All Women Car Rally was flagged off by Anita Nain, Regional President AWWA of the Pune Based Southern Command of the Indian Army on Thursday. The unique rally has 28 women participants in 15 vehicles.

The rally will cover a distance of around 2000 km in five days travelling across Jaisalmer, Barmer, Udaipur and Nasirabad before culminating at Alwar. At all the destinations enroute, the rally participants will reach out to the Veer Naris Veer Matas and Widows of armed forces personnel and felicitate them to further strengthen solidarity with these families.

(SUBHEAD)At halts enroute, programmes like medical check-up camps, pension and documentation related camps and info kiosks on various benefits have been planned in coordination with both civil and army officials for Veer Naris and Widows.

The team will meet young girl students and NCC Cadets to motivate them to take up a career in the armed forces. They will also interact with Cadets in Rashtriya Military School, Ajmer. The rally is unique in the sense that the force behind the forces will be connecting with the past, as well as the future.
