The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme of irrigation for the Kharif Season through canals from October 19 TO 26,2022. The channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Sidhwan Branch, Bathinda Branch, Bist Doab Canal, Abohar Branch and Patiala Feeder respectively.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Irrigation department said that direct distributaries of Bhakhra Main line group 'A' being in the channels of first preference will run to their indent. Balance water available will be utilized in Ghaggar Branch and P.N.C. in Group 'B' respectively.
The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozepur head works i.e. all the direct distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in group ‘A’ being in the first preference will run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilised in the Abohar Branch Lower off- taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries/Minors in Group ‘B’.
The spokesman also said that the channels off-taking from Upper Bari Doab Canal i.e. Lahore Branch with its distributaries being in the first preference will run to their indent and balance water supplies available will be utilized in Main Branch lower, Kasur Branch Lower,Sabhraon Branch, and with their distributaries respectively.
NO LAPSE OF FUND SHOULD OCCUR, SLOW PACE OF DEVELOPMENT WORK TO BE VIEWED SERIOUSLY-CHEEMA: Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday directed all the departments to ensure timely utilisation of all the funds provided for various development projects and welfare schemes so that the overall development of the state can be accelerated. He said that the issue of lapsed funds due to slow pace of development works or delay in the delivery of the welfare schemes would be considered seriously.
CM ANNOUNCES TO SPREAD WINGS OF VERKA BY AUGMENTING MILK SUPPLY TO DELHI FOR BENEFITTING FARMERS OF STATE: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government, Milkfed- the leading Cooperative of the state will spread its milk by augmenting the milk supply to Delhi from currently 30,000 litres to 2 lakh litres thereby immensely benefitting the farmers/ milk producers of the state.
“This is a revolutionary step aimed at supplementing the income of the farmers to bail them out from the agrarian crisis”, said the Chief Minister after inaugurating the newly built Milk Processing and Butter Plant Verka in Ludhiana today.
The Chief Minister unequivocally said that the state government has inked an agreement with the Delhi government in this regard. He said that as per this agreement Verka will open new outlets at every nook and corner of Delhi to supply milk and milk products in the capital. Bhagwant Mann unequivocally said that the sole aim of his government is to extend maximum support and best prices to the dairy farmers of Punjab by following the true essence of cooperation.
