SAHAYTA CHARITABLE WELFARE SOCIETY ORGANIZES ‘BREAST CANCER WALKATHON’ AT SUKHNA LAKE

As a part of celebrating ‘Pink October’ as the Breast and Cervix Cancer Awareness’ month, Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society on Saturday organized ‘Breast Cancer Walkathon’ at Sukhna Lake in which over 350 women and men from tricity took part.

Prof Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest of the event, while renowned surgical oncologist Dr Arvind Guru was the Guest of Honour.

The theme for the breast cancer awareness month is ‘Hope for Cure: Breast Self Examination and Early Detection,’ said Renu Saigal, president, Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society. “Together, we can fight cancer,” she said.

(SUBHEAD)Ajay Tulli from Sahayta Welfare Charitable Society informed that the walkathon, saw participation of cancer survivors, senior doctors from PGIMER, Chandigarh, and Government Hospital, Sector 32, students and teachers of schools like St Kabir, St Stephen’s, St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Carmel Convent, Vivek High, Bhavan Vidyalaya and Shivalik Public.

NCC cadets from Army, Air Force and Navy, Rotaract Club Chandigarh (Himalayan), Army Generals, veterans and Army personnel’s wives, members of Rotary Club, Inner Wheel Club, SBI Ladies Club, Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association, volunteers of Karuna Sparsh, CESA – Carmel Ex Students Association and other citizens of the tricity participated in the walkathon.

Dr Arvind Guru answered queries from the public on the occasion! A ‘Nukkad Natak’ was performed on the occasion by the students from Panchkula, which was hugely appreciated by the audience.

The event was sponsored by Testing Xperts, Jaquar Foundation, Simpli Health, Carmel Ex Students Association (CESA).
