VADA CLUB OF GGDSD COLLEGE FELICITATES ‘MASTER VOLUNTEERS’ AND INDUCTS STUDENTS FOR FIGHT AGAINST DRUG ABUSE

The Victory Against Drug Abuse (VADA) Club of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh held an awareness programme to sensitize the students of the College about the menace of Drug Abuse.

The VADA Club has been created under the flagship program ‘NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The club undertakes various anti-drug activities to promote healthy living, both on the campus and outreach programmes under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Ajay Sharma and club in-charge Ms. Ritika Sinha.

Dikshant Sharma and Aditya Sharma, students of BA III were felicitated by Dr.Anirudh Joshi, President, GGDSD College Society and Guest of Honour for the event and Capt. Dr.Virender Singh, HOD IT, the Special Guest at the event. Dikshant and Aditya have been chosen as ‘Master Volunteers’ by the Government of India under the NMBA programme, and have conducted awareness sessions and workshops on drug abuse inforty-two Government Senior Secondary Schools across Chandigarh in the month of September-October2022.(SUBHEAD)

Student volunteers were inducted for the cause of creating awareness against drugs. They were asked to fill forms and come up with creative ideas related to the fight against drug abuse. The forms were analysed in the presence of club faculty members; Mr. Varinder Kumar, Dr.DivyaJyotiRandev, Dr.Nidhi Chadha and Dr.AgrimVerma followed by a productive discussion on future efforts.

Speaking on the occasion Dr.Anirudh Joshi said, “With the induction of new members to the club, the college plans to intensify its efforts towards the noble cause. We hope to effectively reach out to the youth within and outside the campus with this student-led initiative.”
