MLA JAKHAR CHALLENGES OFFICIAL CLAIMS

Due to delay in lifting of paddy in the new grain market here, farmers, labour and commission agents were suffering a lot while the district administration claimed that 96 percent of the paddy had so far been lifted. This was stated by MLA Sandeep Jakhar after interaction with dozens of farmers, labourers and commission agents in the new grain market today. He said that representatives of local purchase agencies were misleading the district authorities and the state govt to secure a brownie point.
Jakhar said that none of the senior officers had visited Abohar, their visits were confined to other towns. He was told by the stakeholders that AAP had reconstituted the truck union to give the command mostly to such persons who had nothing to do with the transportation business, this was done to benefit the vested interests.
He said the CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and concerned ministers as well as senior officers had assured that each grain will be purchased, quick lifting and payment will be ensured but these assurances fell flat. The AAP govt concentrates more on launching a false publicity campaign instead of understanding the ground realities. No regular secretary has been appointed to run the Market Committee affairs here. Also, for the past six months, the Municipal Corporation had no regular Commissioner. It visibly appeared that state govt was deliberately neglecting Abohar area, he said.
